About the DMM Mantis/Shadow Set

DMM’s Mantis is your classic belay device with lightweight, high-performance internal geometry. The handle is smooth for up to two single or half ropes. Friction grooves offer an additional bomber grip on half and single ropes between 7.3mm-11mm. Great for outdoor climbing and indoor training, the Mantis is a proper all-rounder.

The Mantis belay device is paired with a DMM Shadow screw gate carabiner. The Shadow minimizes the risk of cross-loading. Easy to operate with one hand, and able to locate on the belay loop in a single movement, the Shadow is intuitive to use and simple to rack. Correct orientation is achieved with an internal wire gate that keeps the Shadow captive on a belay loop, and a horn that prevents assisted braking devices from moving onto the carabiner’s spine. A full-section top bar gives smooth rope control and resists wear.
